I bought this product hoping to find a tanning lotion that didn’t give off a “fake tan” smell. It initially smells great putting on, but after a couple of hours the smell comes around and is pretty strong. Other than that the lotion does it’s job and adds an even, subtle color to your skin.During the summer my face, arms and neck get just enough sun to give me that look healthy look. A few months ago I had someone tell me that I looked very pale. I know its just my winter color but it bothered me enough that I started researching spray on tans. I was reading reviews on the different places I could go and get a spray tan and came across a review comparing this Tropez to a spray on tan. The review was very much in favor of Tropez. I ordered a bottle and gave it a try. I was so nervous the first few times. I didn't want it to look like I used a tanning lotion and wanted it very gradual. I also worried what it might look like after it started wearing off. I watched youtube videos on how to apply tanning lotion. Anyway it turns out this product is pretty much fail proof. I apply it on my face and neck and a little on my arms, rub it in very well either in the evening or morning, doesn't seem to matter. I have never had one dark streak. After first application I have a tiny bit of color. After second day a light tan. Someone asked me if I had been to a tanning bed, since it was winter. It fades away gradually in a few days and has never left splotches or any bad signs. If I have something special like a family get together etc I will just use it the two days before the event. This stuff is awesome and very easy to experiment around with until you figure out how much of a healthy tan you want. I can't wait for summer so I can try it 3 or 4 days in a row without people wondering how I am getting sunshine when there isn't any. I have used it 2 days in a row and then 3 or 4 days without. Then used it once then a few days without. You don't have to follow a regime, just here and there when you want a little color, then go without it for as long as you like until you just wake up and feel like getting a little fake sunshine. I am still on the first bottle but I haven't been applying to my whole body. Just the parts that show. This summer I will try it on other parts. This stuff is perfect and I have already ordered another bottle as a back up for when this one runs out.....There is no orange look like the old fake tanning lotions or splotchy skin. Looks like sunshine on your skin. Perfect if all you want is a little color on your face. This stuff is magic.....Really great gradual tan. I applied twice in one day and forgot to wash it off my hands and woke up with orange hands and tan legs. Be sure to evenly spread it and Just wash it off your hands after applying!This product is just like a spray tan. I used to spray tan all the time but wanted a gradual lotion that is half the price to use for an event and this was perfect! It does smell like a spray tan and goes on easily but has the same experience as a spray tan so can leave streaks and wash your hands after. The closest thing to a spray tan, buy this product!I am seriously pale. I burn thinking about going out in the sun. And even when I do go out in the sun, all I do is burn usually. Except on my lower legs. For some reason, I can not get any kind of color on my legs, not even a burn if I tried. Anyways, I have always been self-conscious of my legs the older I get, as now the veins are showing more etc. And let's face it - everyone looks better with a little glow. I've had skin cancer, so I'm not a supporter of real tanning sun, so I stick to the fake tanners. I'm pretty sure that I've tried them all. I've broke out from hives from one, turned an oompa loompa orange multiple times, and have spent way, way too much money I care to remember on trying to get my ghost like complexion to look semi-attractive. Anyways, after all the trial and error, I stick to gradual tanners - it's easier for me, kind of fool proof application, and if it looks too orange, I'll know early on, and can stop it if I don't like it.That being said, St. Tropez has been my saviour. My husband actually told me that he no longer feels that I could live in the dark depths of the ocean and survive anymore.I did the exfoliating routine, put it on, and didn't notice much on the first application. However, I did notice that I did not stink like the sunless tanner. Look, I don't find the St. Tropez scent particularly appealing but it is 500% better than smelling like the old tanning lotion. I take a shower before I go to sleep, and use this tanning lotion just like I would use any other lotion. BUT, after regular use - about 3 days, it looks really nice! I'm not dark - that would look pretty stupid considering how pale I am. But, I do look sun-kissed, and feel like I look really good and am not going to blind someone when I step out in the sun. I use it almost every night...just because I really like the color it gives - looks really natural. Some say it's expensive - and I agree. But it works and smells a million times better than Jergans or any of the drugstore brands, so I will pay for it.Doesn’t last very longI loved the cream at first because it tanned me gradually, but then it stated drying out my skin and I started tanning unevenly. I must have not exfoliated enough or something. I am 67 years old so I don't have the youngest skin in the world. I think that it is a pretty good cream.I am fair and the color took around 5 applications to build, but once it did, it looked natural. My best results came from using it after the St. Tropez mousse to extend my tan. Probably wouldn’t buy again because I’ve used less-expensive products that work faster.I have used this for years, it’s extremely good, please note there’s light to medium, and medium to dark - itseasy to pick the wrong one up. I always use the medium to dark As it’s buildable colour, it’s never scary touse, it’s white in colour and doesn’t come off on your clothes. The smell on initial application is pleasant, when it’s beenon for the full amount of time, it has a slight smell, but nothing much really, you can go out before washing it off.The more applications you put on, the more you you can detect the active ingredient.Really don’t like fake tan usually but this smells nice and leaves skin a really lovely natural colour. I have very pale skin so fake tan is usually streaky and patchy. Not this! Have bought a second tube so I can keep reapplying ready for summer!This stuff is amazing! It comes out white like normal moisturiser so wasn’t expecting to turn out as good as it has after just 2 day use, certainly worth the moneyThis is the best self-tanning product I've used. I usually apply it for two days in a row and It gives me deep natural looking tan. It smells nice when applied, dries up quickly and it does not stain clothes and bedding. There is a slight smell when the colour starts developing, but nothing overpowering. It only slightly dries up my skin after second application, but nothing that my usual moisturiser can't correct. I also like the fact that it fades gradually and you don't end up with ugly brown spots that make you skin looks dirty, which some of self-tanning products do.I have used this product for a good few years now and really liked the colour and the coverage. I really don’t know what happened to this tube unless it is out of date or something. It was patchy and felt more sticky. It dried really really patchy. I waited until it wore off, used exfoliating shower gel and moistureised my skin and tried again taking extra special care. The same result. Really really dissapointed
