I purchased this after extensive research into what I could do to exercise after herniated discs in my cervical and a disc tear in lumbar spine. I also have to deal with a progressive ( though slowly progressive) muscle disease called Parkinson's at an early age in my 40's. I was always active as a child, a runner as a teen and as an adult with 3 kids mostly walking 2 miles per day and chasing after my kids all day (when they were little) was a workout in itself, and using a treadmill, and a bayou fitness total trainer at home. All worked well but when I had the back injury everything changed. The pain from the discs.. sciatica was unimaginable... pain worse than I can describe. I have had approx. 12-15 steroid injections in last 5 years. It is very discouraging to have so many physical problems but I am trying day by day to not let it get me down. I want to keep my body as fit as I can so I can continue to function. This EXO excellent pilates chair has been amazing so far. I can use this pilates chair 2 or 3 times a day at my own pace( low resistance setting) and using the dvd is very helpful though I only do some of the exercises. I am taking it slow but I am already after 3 weeks feeling strength in my muscles and better sense of balance too. I was unable to do any exercise except for water therapy and having the EXO chair at home is wonderful for me. It is already assembled and not too heavy if you have a 15 yr old son to move it around where you need it. I love that it is portable..approx 50 pounds but it can be moved and fits in back of my van easily. I had considered a stationary exercise bike but they are hard to assemble and very heavy and would need the incredible hulk to move them around.Pro's- Assembled, and easy on muscles with different levels of resistance to meet your fitness goals from toning and strengthening muscles esp. injury recovery, chair is comfortable and very sturdy, takes up little space in a room, has a 5 year warranty.cons- expensiveThe pilates reformers ( some cheaper versions out there too) are also very good if you have the space.I'll write more later in a few months to let you all in consumer land know how this EXO Pilates chair is helping me in my daily journey to get my muscles stronger and to help with better balance.
