I'm not much on chanting, but just love this one. Ann T. Brode has the kind of voice that makes me feel comfortable and want to listen to her. At first, when the first meditation started, I heard alot of chanting, along with music, and thought 'uh oh', because the sound is so different than what I usually listen to. The chants are more in the background, and not constant, but very soothing. The music is just enchanting, gorgeous sounding bamboo flute, and hearing the sound of the bells, (probably something else, but sounds like bells to me), whatever it is, it's so beautiful and relaxing. There are three meditations, and each one lasts 10 min. The first one has most of the chanting, as Ann describes how to breathe right to release tension and scan the body. The second one has the sound of very quiet chimes in the background, and the flute player surely must feel so passionate about his playing, because I feel it too. The music sounds almost lullaby-ish, so peaceful, I just love it. The third one is just so relaxing, so beautiful, Ann explains how to 'sense the space around you' and heal in such a wonderful way. She explains how to focus on the area that you are needing relaxation most, the healing breaths, flowing in this space. Not alot of words on this Cd, just enough to talk to you and help you to relax. The majority is soothing music, so you can actually practice. I just love this Cd, although I feel that I need to be in the right atmosphere for it, as it's not one that relaxes you enough to put you to sleep, (like I like and always need), but one of those that you need alot of concentration on, (which I also need). I just don't put it in my visualization meds for going to sleep stack, it's for my serious concentration stack, and it always stays on the top!
