This is an amazing book and more than anything, an uncommon take on such an unfortunately common issue: Cancer. The author's vulnerability is, in my opinion, one of the most compelling aspects of the book, as he shares who he was as a person before his cancer diagnosis and doesn't sugarcoat it. He was and likely still is a flawed yet impressive human, as we all are, and this is what makes much of this so relatable. The fact that he was/is a very successful physician is compelling on its own, but combined with the humanizing aspect of the journey from being on both sides of the healthcare continuum gives this work a very unique perspective. This is an exceptional, poignant, and very timely work of nonfiction full of truth, heart, spirit, and practical suggestions for anyone whose world has been impacted by cancer. As someone who has had multiple people afflicted with cancer, I only wish this book was available back then.
