What a delightful book! And the art is fantastical!!!! We have read and reread and reread Beautiful Girl Celebrating the Wonders of Your Body by Christiane Northrup and this book laid a gentle groundwork for readying the child for Cycling to Grandma’s House. We practice gentle parenting so Beautiful Girl has been a treasure! We started reading it at age 8. And now Cycling to Grandma’s House is treasured as well as the book Moon Mother Moon Daughter by Janet Lucy & Terri Allison, a delightful and empowering book every girl should own, with education on proper self care in the light of our innate body cycles and wisdom. Also, we found the book Malia’s Magnificent Moontime by Angela Shabazz & Kendi Shabazz Muhammad an enlightening and interesting and helpful book as well. Also, the book Reaching for the Moon by Lucy H Pearce was great for the adult to read and reference in assisting our young girls through this life transition, a great book as well. So often we can feel like we are searching in the dark for ways to lift up the next generation and I feel these books I mentioned are an incredible gift to our daughters to help them see so much more than the western society presentation of puberty. Read these books and you will see all you are capable of and much, much more, as well as have a solid base to pass positivity on to our daughters about our precious bodies!
