I've loved every book in the series so far. This wasn't the best, IMO, but it's not the worst... although in all honesty I'd be hard pressed to point fingers at a 'worst' in general for any of the books in this series. They are all well written, with enjoyable characters and plots, set in a thoroughly enjoyable world. Each of the books stand alone, yet they all tie in to a grander universe of wonderful and awesome and terrifying and funny and romantic and sad and happy with a side dish of 'i wish I could live there' wishful thinking. It's not often that an author's universe leaves me wondering and pondering and puzzling away days AFTER I finished the book. (Yeah, I'm looking at you angels. The mental pictures I've drawn disturb me a little bit.)TLDR; I read books like most people drink water. Ergo, I've read more than my a fair sharel of sub par, horribly written books with disjointed plot lines and flimsy characters. Rest assured that this book checks off none of those boxes.
